Volumet Capture privacy policy
This policy covers the Volumet Capture app for iPhone and iPad and the private result pages it produces on volumet.net. It says what we collect, why, who else sees it, how long we keep it and how to delete it. Our general website privacy policy covers enquiries and browsing.
1. Who we are
Volumet Capture is provided by Kelin Studio Pte. Ltd., the Singapore company that operates Volumet (UEN 202647352G, registered address 60 Paya Lebar Road, #06-28 Paya Lebar Square, Singapore 409051). “We” and “us” below mean Kelin Studio Pte. Ltd. We handle personal data under Singapore’s Personal Data Protection Act 2012 (PDPA).
2. What we collect
Your account. Your email address, which you use to sign in, and the names you give your homes and rooms.
Your scans. When you upload a scan, we receive what the app recorded in each room:
- the LiDAR mesh: the 3D surface of the room;
- Apple RoomPlan data: walls, doors, windows and boxes for detected furniture;
- photos taken during the scan, with the position of the camera for each;
- depth frames: low-resolution distance images from the LiDAR sensor.
Technical data. The device model, iOS and app version, and upload and error logs, so we can deliver the upload and fix problems.
Nothing leaves your phone until you review the scan and tap Upload. Scans you do not upload stay on your device.
3. Faces are blurred on your phone
Before upload, the app finds faces in the photos and blurs them on the device, so we never receive the unblurred image. Automatic blurring can miss things. Before you scan, take down or turn over family photos, documents and anything else you do not want recorded, and do not scan people.
4. What we use it for
- To process your scan into a 3D model with separated, measured objects, an inventory and a rough plan.
- To show you the result on a private page on volumet.net.
- To quote and arrange a laser survey or other work, if you ask for one.
- To answer support requests and keep the app working.
We do not sell your data. We do not use your home, or anything recorded in it, in marketing, case studies, or to train AI models, unless you give separate written consent for that specific use.
5. Your consent, and withdrawing it
The app asks for your consent on a screen before your first upload, and explains what will be sent. You can withdraw consent at any time by deleting a scan or your account in the app, or by contacting us (section 11). We then stop processing the data and delete it as set out in section 8. Withdrawing consent means we can no longer produce results from your scans.
If you scan a home that is not yours, for example as a contractor or interior designer, you must have the occupant’s permission first.
6. Who else receives it
Our service providers. Companies that host the app’s storage, database and website, and that provide extra computing capacity when our own machines are busy. They act only on our instructions, under contract, and may not use your data for their own purposes.
Third-party AI processing: only if you opt in. Some results may be improved by an AI service run by another company. This is off by default. The app asks you separately, names the provider and explains what it receives before you switch it on, and you can switch it off at any time. If you do not opt in, no third-party AI service receives your photos or scans.
When the law requires it. We may disclose data where Singapore law requires us to.
7. Data stored outside Singapore
Some of our service providers store or process data outside Singapore. When they do, we require by contract that your data is protected to a standard comparable to the PDPA, as the PDPA’s transfer rules require.
8. How long we keep it
We keep each uploaded scan and its results for 12 months from upload, then delete them. You can delete a scan sooner in the app. If you book paid work with us, the quote, invoice and project records are kept as long as the law requires, separately from the scan.
9. Deleting your account
You can delete your account inside the app, in its account settings. This deletes your account, every scan you uploaded and every result page made from them. We remove them from our live systems straight away and from all storage within 30 days. If you cannot use the app, email us and we will do it for you.
10. Security, access and correction
Uploads are encrypted in transit, result pages are private, and access to scans inside Volumet is limited to the staff who process them. You may ask what personal data we hold about you and ask us to correct it. We respond within 30 days. The app is meant for adults arranging work on a home.
11. Contact
Questions, requests and complaints about your data go to our data protection contact at sales@volumet.net, or WhatsApp +65 8905 4905. If you are not satisfied with our reply, you can contact Singapore’s Personal Data Protection Commission.
12. Changes
We will update this page when the app changes what it collects or who receives it, and change the date at the top. A material change, such as a new kind of recipient, is shown in the app before it applies to your scans.
