Locations and sets, captured for the pipeline.

LiDAR, photogrammetry and 3D Gaussian Splatting of sets, locations and props, delivered in formats your pipeline already reads.

The location is available once.

A location is yours for the shoot days and then it is gone. Anything post needs later, a clean plate, a set extension, a digital double of the space, has to have been captured while you were there, or it gets rebuilt by hand at far greater cost.

Capturing the space properly during the window you already have is the cheap insurance. It costs a scanning session on the day and saves modelling weeks in post.

What we do

What we capture for production.

Sets and locations

Full spatial capture of the space, for set extension and layout reference.

Props and hero assets

Close-range photogrammetry of objects that need to exist as geometry.

3DGS scenes

Photoreal Gaussian Splatting captures for previs, virtual production and XR.

How it runs

Delivered into the pipeline, not around it.

Capture is only useful if it opens. We deliver meshes, point clouds and USD in the formats your pipeline already reads, with scale and orientation resolved before handover, so the asset lands in the scene rather than starting another day of cleanup.

About 3D Gaussian Splatting
What Volumet provides
  • Capture by our team, scheduled around the shoot
  • Pipeline-ready meshes, clouds and USD
  • 3DGS scenes where in scope
  • Scoped quote within one business day
What Volumet does not claim
  • Cadastral or boundary survey, which is the statutory preserve of a Registered Surveyor, and which we refer
  • PE-endorsed structural certification: we document condition, a Professional Engineer signs off adequacy
  • QP submission sign-off: we produce the drawings and models, your Qualified Person submits them
  • Guaranteed absolute survey-grade accuracy: around 1 cm relative at device level, and the real number depends on the whole chain

Production capture, answered.

Can you work around a shooting schedule?
Yes, and usually that is the only way it works. Capture fits into turnaround gaps, pre-light or wrap. We plan the session against the call sheet rather than asking production to make room for us.
What formats do you deliver?
Meshes, point clouds and USD, chosen to match the pipeline rather than our convenience. Formats are agreed before the shoot so nothing needs converting under deadline afterwards.
Is 3DGS usable in a production pipeline?
For previs, virtual production backplates and XR, increasingly yes. For assets that need to be relit and integrated as geometry, a mesh remains the right deliverable, and we are direct about which one your shot actually needs.
Can you scan a location before the shoot for previs?
Yes. A recce capture gives the department heads a measurable model of the space to plan against, which is generally cheaper than discovering the constraint on the day.

Capture it on the day.

Tell us the site, the access constraints and the deliverable. We come back within one business day with scope, method and a quote, or an honest no if we are not the right fit.
