Questions about renting, answered.

Everything teams ask before booking the XGRIDS Lixel K2 or another handheld SLAM scanner in Singapore — from availability and deposits to deliverables and delivery.

01 — Renting & availability

Renting & availability

Can I rent an XGRIDS Lixel K2 in Singapore?
Yes. Volumet accepts Lixel K2 rental enquiries in Singapore with weekly and project-based options — equipment is available now. Send your dates and we confirm availability and a quote.
What equipment can I rent?
The featured rental is the XGRIDS Lixel K2. We also handle enquiries for the Lixel K1, Lixel L2 Pro, and PortalCam. Aerial workflows are partner-supported, case by case. Browse the full list on the equipment page.
How far ahead should I book?
As early as you can confirm dates. A single unit is shared across projects, so booking ahead secures your window — last-minute requests are accommodated when availability allows.
Do I need experience to rent a scanner?
Prior experience is recommended for dry rental. First-time users can choose rental plus onboarding, which covers setup, basic capture technique and return requirements in a short session.
02 — Pricing, deposit & terms

Pricing, deposit & terms

How much does Lixel K2 rental cost in Singapore?
The Lixel K2 rents from S$2,300 per week (dry, subject to approval). Optional onboarding is an add-on. Final pricing is confirmed in the quote based on duration and scope.
Is dry rental available?
Dry rental may be available for teams with suitable experience and clear project requirements. Approval depends on the renter profile, intended use and site conditions.
How much is the deposit?
Deposit amounts are confirmed in the quote and scale with rental duration and profile. The deposit is returned promptly after a clean return check.
Is insurance always required?
Not always — it depends on the rental profile, duration and site risk. Requirements are stated clearly in the quote before you commit. See terms & handover for detail.
What happens if the scanner is damaged?
Report it immediately. Damage is handled per the rental agreement — deposit first, insurance where applicable. Early reporting almost always makes the resolution simpler.
03 — Using the equipment

Using the equipment

Do I need training to use the K2?
Most teams are scanning within an hour. The rental + onboarding tier includes a session on setup, capture technique and return requirements so you start with confidence.
Does handheld SLAM work without GPS?
Yes. SLAM positioning fuses laser, visual and IMU data, so it maps reliably in GPS-denied environments — basements, tunnels, interiors and dense structures. RTK adds georeferencing where signal is available.
What is in the rental kit?
Typically the scanner, batteries, charger, phone mount, storage, carry case and capture/return checklists — confirmed item by item at handover and again on return.
How long does it take to scan a site?
Handheld SLAM captures continuously as you walk, so multi-room or multi-level spaces are far faster than station-based tripod scanning. Exact time depends on size, complexity and coverage requirements.
04 — Outputs & deliverables

Outputs & deliverables

What outputs can I produce from a rental?
Depending on capture and processing, one K2 walk can support point cloud, mesh, Scan-to-BIM reference geometry and 3D Gaussian Splatting outputs. See the workflows overview for how each is produced.
Can I use the rental scanner for Scan-to-BIM?
Yes — rented handheld SLAM equipment supports point cloud reference capture for Scan-to-BIM workflows. Volumet provides the capture data as reference geometry rather than full modelling services.
Can I produce 3D Gaussian Splatting scenes?
Yes — XGRIDS workflows support 3DGS use cases depending on the device, capture method and processing through Lixel CyberColor, alongside standard point cloud and mesh outputs.
Who keeps and controls the captured data?
Your datasets stay under your control. Volumet does not retain, access or process captured data unless a processing service is explicitly arranged.
05 — Delivery & logistics

Delivery & logistics

How do pickup and delivery work?
Singapore pickup and delivery are standard. Handover includes an item-by-item kit check; return follows the same checklist so the deposit can be released quickly.
Do you rent or deliver outside Singapore?
Singapore is the primary service area. Southeast Asia enquiries are reviewed case by case, with adjusted deposit, insurance and logistics terms depending on scope.
Do you provide a scanner operator?
Volumet is primarily an equipment rental and access provider. Operator-supported or partner-supported workflows may be considered case by case — ask when you enquire.
06 — Choosing the right approach

Choosing the right approach

Is handheld SLAM accurate enough to replace a terrestrial laser scanner?
For many documentation, BIM reference and digital twin workflows, centimetre-class relative accuracy is sufficient. For specified survey-grade deliverables, confirm requirements first. Compare both on the K2 vs TLS page.
K1 or K2 — which should I rent?
The K1 is the lighter, entry-level handheld SLAM scanner; the K2 adds built-in RTK and higher performance. The K2 vs K1 comparison breaks down the differences against your use case.
How do I compare options before booking?
Use the comparison builder to put scanners, drones, software and methods side by side, then open the full written comparison. If you are still unsure, tell us the workflow and we will advise.
What if I am not sure which approach fits my project?
Send us the site type, intended outputs and dates. We will recommend the right equipment and rental tier — or tell you honestly if a different approach would serve you better.
Still have a question?
